Meg Altman (Jodie Foster) and her daughter Sarah (Kristen Stewart) have just [?] into a large house located on the west side of Manhattan. This house [?] a unique feature; it has a panic room that was built [?] shelter the occupants from catastrophes or threats. It has ventilation, electricity and a phone. It also has security cameras showing all areas of the house, thick walls and an impenetrable door.
On their first night, they are invaded [?] burglars (Forest Whitaker and Dwight Yoakam) and escape [?] the panic room. Once in the room they they are safe, until they learn that the burglars want something in a safe box in the panic room.
As Meg and Sarah try to find a way to communicate with the police, Sarah begins to experience problems with her diabetes. It all ends in a brutal and very scary fight between the burglars and a very determined mother.
